V0.7.0 Update- Mortar tower and additional content
This turned out to be mostly a content update.
Here's a clip of the mortar tower in action. It's probably too OP right now but I think it will balance out once new enemy types are added. The arching shot took a long time to figure out. But once I got it the math was surprisingly simple.
- Items dropped in into the world now spawn its corresponding mesh. I also added support for inventories in buildings to also show in its mesh in the world space. This allows the player to quickly tell how much of an item a building has. It also gives more progression as the player hordes resources
- You can now click on a human. If they have issues, additional dialog options will show. It's very preliminary right now but we will build on this system later.
- More notifications on buildings and humans for when something is wrong. One complaint is that it's unclear why a building is not working. Now when clicked into a building it will show a banner describing what problems it's facing.
- Better tooltip support. Players are also lost in terms of not knowing what makes what. So now some texts have tooltip support to give more details on what an item is and where to make it. The goal is to make the game more accessible.
- Made using humans more accessible. One feedback was using humans does not seem worth the effort. The new shack building and wild vegetables hopes to lower the bar for employing humans. Wild veggies require no processing for humans to eat and shacks require no research and are very cheap to build.
- More QOL and bug fixes.
The next update will focus primarily on humans. Up to this point the game loop of getting resources, building, defending against bugs is pretty clear. However, the other big mechanic is colony management with humans. Part of the V0.7 update was to lower the threshold for using humans. The next update will focus on the core game loop where humans are an integral part of the game.
One early idea is to make employment system entirely optional. When a human joins a base, they will just work. TP can optimizing their use of humans through specific employment.
